I started writing ‘Samba, sex and self-loathing’ in 2016 whilst living in Rio. The book began as a collection of my travelling tales and stories I heard along the way. Each character grew from a mixture of different women I knew living in Rio and other countries.

This is going to sound nauseating but when I've saved money I travel to a new destination and write there. I genuinely really love writing so scribbling away in a hot climate on a beautiful, exotic, white sand beach somewhere in seclusion, is my utopia.

You can edit a million times but at some point you have to stop. Publish even if you have doubts, believe in yourself. Writing is the easy part- marketing is hell on earth. Research how to launch properly and email book recommendation sites. Get as many reviews as possible- so you don't end up in the Amazon Dungeon.

After 31 years of travel, I I have many tales therefore I very rarely get writers block. The problem I have is over writing. Editing is time consuming and difficult because it breaks my heart to lose anything. My first draft of 'Samba, sex and self-loathing' was 300,000 and I whittled it down to 100,000 eventually.

I am also currently working on my next book which will be second in the series of Amy's adventures. This book will be set in Tokyo and possibly Africa, I"m trying not to give too much away.
