Ever since I read "The Sandgrounders: The Complete League History of Southport Football Club" by Michael Braham and Geoff Wilde, I wanted to know more about the early years of Southport Football Club. I began researching the formation of the club with the idea to add a bit of information to my website but after reading similar books covering the formation of other clubs, and with the encouragement in particular of Michael Braham, I decided to turn my research into a book.
