My partner at the time of writing 'The Journey (No matter how far you run, your demons always follow)' was pregnant, and while I was absolutely overjoyed about becoming a father for the very first time, when I sat down to attempt the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenge for the first time, I wondered “what if?”. What if a man wasn’t ecstatic? What if he wanted to escape the situation? What if he wanted to be free of everything? From there, the manuscript came together super-quick. I conquered the challenge, and by the end of NaNaWriMo that November, I had the first draft written (50,000+ words).
