Sandra Cavanaugh I write about things I want to explore. I write about things that I want to question. Whether a screenplay, a play, a story, or a non fiction book, like Spontaneous Brilliance, it springs from something I want to question and explore... something I am intruged by. Writing needs to be fun for me, so it needs to be an idea that I want to play with for a while.
Sandra Cavanaugh The inspiration for this book comes from two quotes. The first is attributed to Einstein - "Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing it is stupid." And the second is Shakespeare - As You Like It (Act 2 Sc 7 line 139) "All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players...." I believe that everyone, and I really really mean everyone is a unique creative genius, with a passion and purpose they came here to share. And Having spent 35+ years in theater, particularly directing and teaching actors - I have been saying for at least that long "In acting as in life (this) is true" or "In improv as in life (this) is true" And I realized that everything that makes for a successful improv or acting performance on the stage translates as a lesson or technique for a successful life... thus my book Spontaneous Brilliance became my metaphorical metaphysical guide to life.
