I don't really know, I think I am still an aspiring writer! I'm sure there is plenty of advice about resilience and keeping going, coping with rejection etc but maybe it's about believing in your own talent. I've never been on a writing course or joined a writing group, I don't think they add any real value and probably cause more confusion to the writer.

I am taking a break from writing to promote my latest novel, 'Maybe It's About Time' but will probably start writing again in early 2023. There seems to be a demand for a sequel so I don't want to disappoint! And I think the characters in MIAT deserve a second outing!

I have always enjoyed writing from a young age. Maybe being an only child forced me to use my imagination more and that has spilled over into my writing. I have written articles and small pieces throughout my education and working life but it has only been in retirement that I have been able to really follow my passion. I am always looking around me, observing things from different perspectives and thinking about how I can use them in my writing.

I worked in professional services for 20 years and thought it was a world which took itself far too seriously and was worth satirising. I also wanted to set the novel in the unprecedented time of the pandemic and address a number of social themes through satire and humour.
