I clean the flat for about 3hrs, make a sandwich, doomscroll through twitter for an hour, stare out the window and then finally sit down to write at about midnight.

Don't get hung up on whether your writing is good or not. Just keep at it, and try to finish - whether it's a short story, a novella or a whole book, it's nothing until you actually finish it. Even if you think it's rubbish, you will have done something thousands of people haven't.

Writing when you're in the zone and flowing is easy(ish!), but when it gets hard, it's tempting to give up. It's not easy but when it gets tough, keep going. It can feel like swimming through treacle, but if you stop swimming, you'll never get to the other side!

I always loved murder mysteries and thrillers, and I knew I wanted to write one that was modern and set in the world I lived in. I was going on loads of dates at the time, and I started thinking about how dating apps make people seem so disposable, you literally 'swipe' them away! I thought this would make the basis for a great plot - what if someone was killing each of your dates in turn?
