I got the idea for Victor's Blessing from my mother Eleanor. She was ill at the time and mentioned to me about how General George Washington had to let his troops go home in the spring to plant the crops otherwise their families would starve. She turned to me and said: "What if one of the soldiers' families found out that he had already been killed, and it was his ghost that came back to put in the crops?" I got chills. I still do to this day.
