For my latest book, Stories My Father Told Me, I thought I would write a short essay about my father to publish in a journal. But I immediately ran into some questions. Looking for the answers I dug out the memoir he wrote years ago that I had stashed away, started reading and couldn't stop. That became the basis of this new book about an Eastern European Jew who was very unusual for his time and had many interesting and enlightening true stories to tell.
About No Regrets, when I moved to Barcelona at the age of 52, I found a whole new world. I described this world to friends through emails. Most of my friends had never been to Catalonia and found the descriptions interesting and suggested I save the emails to maybe write a book in the future. More than 20 years later, here it is!
