The idea for Fractured Oak came to me several years ago when I first read about tree-pod burials. The process fascinated me, and I couldn’t help but take it a step further and wonder what would happen if a person lived on as a tree. I decided to publish the novel under a pen name because the magical realism is quite different from my usual thrillers. I chose Dannie Boyd because my brother, Dan, passed away in July 2022. We used to call him Danny Boy, so the name seemed a natural fit.
