I have a love for a few genres. So The Law of Nines, by Terry Goodkind is on my list for this year. I wanted to try to get to this book last year but I did quite make it. So this year I plan to knock it out.

Missing pens. When I often place a pen down and go back to pick it up again to write, it is not there. Where did it go? Who took it? Is it being held for ransom somewhere? Will it ever return? The mystery continues!

I step away from it for a few hours or even days. Then I come back fresh. I usually get around blocks while I sleep. If I pose a problem to myself before I go to sleep, I usually wake up with the answer. Sometimes it may take a few nights of sleep to get around a particularly hard block.

Never give up! Never! Sharing your stories with others is not for the weak of heart. You will get a lot of negative feedback and reviews, Yet, on the flip side, you will also receive lots of love from your readers. Those that love your storytelling may not tell you and may not leave reviews, but they are out there, and that is whom you write. Those are the people whose lives you touch, allowing them to escape for a few pages a day. You may not hear about them or ever meet them, but you do touch their lives. You make their lives better with what you write.

Sometimes it is from reading other authors or movies. When I read a book, or see a movie that I wish would not end, my mind starts to play out the continuation. Then that leads me to a unique story of my own.

I love both action movies with a romantic twist. One of the situations I love is those where two adversaries are put together on a mission and then end up in a love affair. Think of Romancing the Stone meets Terminator. That is where my mind goes when I write. Sometimes it comes out super steamy, and sometimes it comes out steamy with a twist of intrigue.
