You tell yourself this is temporary, eat a pint of ice cream, cry through a couple movies, be glued to social media for about 16 hours, and then ask yourself WHY you are blocked. Sometimes it's a problem in your story that needs to be tweaked and is damming up the river. Sometimes it's that you don't know enough about where you're actually going, and you need to go back to the map. But I am certain that is not because you're a bad writer. So just keep writing. ;)

I actually wrote it years ago with a friend, and it went completely off the rails at the beginning. I had thought I'd simply re-write it the way it was supposed to go, but the concept took on a whole new life of its own. The published version took about two months to write and another six to beta, edit, and finally publish.
I wanted to give my two female leads a chance at really beautiful men. I started by weaving a scenarios for these four lives intersect naturally to create a beautiful female friendship and an opportunity for romance with the two actors on the set.
I'm inspired by how people meet out in the real world. We can't all bump into cute lawyers or doctors or share cabs with a real estate mogul. But...IF you were an actress yourself, or you worked in the costume department in Hollywood...it could happen to you too!

I draw a lot of inspiration from music. Lately, a friend of mine has shared some demos that have inspired a book I'll be writing after the trilogy that is a bit dark. I get inspired by people around me, movies, and a few surreal life experiences that I'm living through.

I am boldly working on a trilogy with a co-author.
Two former pop-stars (one more former than the other) are put together by their agent to work on a few songs together. The meeting goes so well, that they form a band!
The series follows the three women in the story, concurrently telling the tale of how they all got from point A to point B and managed to find love along the way. The books overlap, and can be read in any order. I call it Sonic Attraction 3D. Book 1 is about Grace. Book 2 is about Rae. And Book 3 is about Carmen. Check out my TikTok (@therhodesy) for two audio clips from the Grace book and some cover art samples that I put together to inspire me.

Write. You can always improve. Be open to feedback. But you won't get anywhere if you don't write. As a baby author, I was inspired by bad writing. Someone would throw me a plot line that didn't make sense or was too dramatic, and the challenge of taking all those mangled pieces and massaging them into something that made sense was so rewarding. Inspiration can come from anywhere - so keep writing, keep reading, and keep living!

I get to live vicariously through my characters. Want to be more bold? Write a bold character. Anything I want to be or do, I can live out in the worlds I create.
But the thing that keeps me going - feedback. Did you laugh? Cry? Think my characters were too dumb to breathe? I want to know! :)

This is selfish, really. I'd jump into the roll of one of my main characters and live out their lives. Despite having many books that I loved reading, I realize that if I actually escaped, I'd just take the same flaws and woes with me.
