Terry Evers For me, the best things about being a writer are creative expression, even in the memoir I wrote. There is so much that can be done with imagery and word use to transport the reader into your experience. It's very rewarding to hear a reader mention that they felt like they were part of the journey. Along with that, the process of conveying to the reader "the feeling" or "vibe" of a time and place is a very satisfying experience in my writing process.
Terry Evers During my years as a classroom elementary teacher, I wrote alongside my students to model the various modes we covered. The more I did this, the more my writing improved and the more I enjoyed the process. It's amazing how well you can learn something if you teach it, no matter the age group.
Terry Evers Being a former commercial fisherman who fished with my father, he always suggested I someday write a book about our adventures. I kept detailed log entires and catch records, which proved to be invaluable reminders of many of our epic times on the water. In 2018, two years after my father had passed away, my wife encouraged me to start writing. Long story short, four years later I had a book to share with the world.
