Inés Franklin For the first time in her nine-year-old life, little Inesita traveled by airplane to New York with her anxious and shy sister. After finding their way through the busy airport at 8:00 p.m. and picking up their heavy luggage, her thrill turned to horror when three hours later she found that no one was coming to pick them up.
Inés Franklin First, I cried, sometimes a lot. But, then, I prayed, asking God to help me when I just didn't know what to write or how to say what was in my heart. Also, I reached out to other writers for ideas. They encouraged me to go on walks, listen to worship music, and watch a movie about a writer. Also, I jumped to another part of the book that felt less intimidating. Once I got my confidence back, I returned to the wall I had experienced. Onward!
Inés Franklin The idea of putting my story, thoughts, and lessons learned in writing is wonderful for it can help others, and a little scary too. All of this to say, it's an adventure, and I love adventures!
Inés Franklin Writing can be lonely at times. At the end of the day, to be a writer, you must write. To combat the isolation, connect with other writers who can share with you ideas and encourage you on the journey. I have been so blessed to meet amazing writers. Each person is unique, and writes and publishes differently, so it's a lot of fun to learn from each other.
Inés Franklin Lots of stuff. First, I am doing my best to get my book out there in the hands of people who need hope and encouragement on their journey of faith. That includes doing podcast interviews, speaking engagements, and social media campaigns. But, also, I am writing an online course to go along with the book. More to follow. Thanks for asking!
Inés Franklin At 42 years old, I was just starting my journey of faith with Jesus. In one of my prayer times, I sensed him calling me to teach and write. It was a strange thought to me, as English is my second language and I never felt that writing was my strength. I still don't. But, after a year of praying and trying to discern if I heard God or if I just had a random thought, the idea did not go away, it just got louder. So, I started reading about writing and learning all I could about the Bible and God. Here I am, now 18 years later and I am finally publishing my first book. It was an act of obedience and hard to do. I threw away thousands of words. Thousands! Cried a lot. Now, I pray it will bless others. You're never too old, too broken, or too inadequate for God.
Inés Franklin I have been reflecting on how uncertain life can be and how the journey of faith is no different. For years, I tried to manage my faith journey to work out the way I wanted it to, only to make a mess of my life and put me further away from my relationship with God. Uncharted became a term I used to describe my journey and so I made it the title for my book as well.
