In reference to the tourism book on Pueblo, I simply got lucky. The publisher was looking for a local writer and I landed the contract, though I had only been living in Pueblo for about four weeks. Over the course of churning out the manuscript for a tight deadline, I had to beat feet and learn the streets of Pueblo. That and tons of research and marathon writing sessions before dawn broke, and somehow I got it done.
