Elizabeth Bardot A few years ago in my office job, i took a homemade chicken pie with sour cream pastry and vegetables as my lunch - it takes me hours to make these pies and they are rich, creamy and decadent. I was looking forward to enjoying this as my lunch. As i went to put it into the fridge the lid slipped and the pie fell out onto the carpet upside down and i grabbed it quickly - less than 5 seconds so it's fine right?! then put it back in the fridge.

At lunch time, i went to heat up my pie and my lunch container was gone from the fridge. I had a moment of thinking perhaps I didn't actually bring the pie in as I was flustered that morning. Then I noticed the container sitting on the kitchen sink nice and clean.

Someone had eaten the pie then cleaned the container afterwards. I was so confused that I sent out an email to the entire office, labelled "dear pie thief" and the email said "I am not sure why you decided to steal my homemade pie but I thought you would want to know what you ate. I spent hours making the sour cream pastry and the creamy chicken and mushroom filling. I hope you enjoyed it. P.S i dropped it this morning so you ate floor pie."

Everyone in the office asked me about it and pointed fingers at who they thought stole the pie but no one came forward. To this day I still don't know who ate it and have always wondered who it was and why. If I could write a fun mystery, it would be on the pie thief.
Elizabeth Bardot I don't often have writer's block so I don't have much advice here. I write like I read - I dont know where the story will go and the characters always surprise me. If i feel really frustrated or a little unmotivated, i either write on a different project, listen to music specifically curated for the book i am listening to and go for a walk. Ideas and scenes play in my head that way and it's easy to get going again.
Sometimes re-reading what you have written can help put you back in the flow too.
Elizabeth Bardot sharing worlds in my own head. I was always lost in a book as a kid and an adult, always dreaming about being able to write my own story and knowing that is possible so easily this current age makes it even more amazing. I write because i love it and i have to share the stories.
Elizabeth Bardot Just do it! Don't over think it, don't get bogged down on all the "rules" of how to do it and find your own groove. Learn as you go, don't be afraid to make mistakes because you can always rewrite, recover, re-brand or start a new story. Life is too short to agonise over a story for years. One day you could be someone's favourite author and the only way that will happen is if you get the story told and share it.
Elizabeth Bardot I am currently working on Book 2 in the Sinners Bay series and in between a Dark Fairytale retelling of Beauty and the Beast that is a why choose relationship between Belle, Gaston and the Beast
Elizabeth Bardot Stories and ideas come to me all the time. Sometimes from a picture, a quote, a movie, a concept or a dream - this happens a lot. I have tons of notes from all the ideas that come to me at random times and generally the stories I write are the ones that continue to build to the point I have to start getting the idea out of my head and take shape.
Elizabeth Bardot I love the dark romance world specifically mafia as bad boys have so much more fun and there is more freedom to be able to write morally grey contexts. I also wanted to share a different perspective on the HEA to achieve a family - specifically the path of IVF as I have experienced this journey and we don't usually see this represented in the romance world. I wanted others who have experienced this to see something they could relate to and give us all a HEA that wasn't conventional.
