I'm torn on this one. First couple that comes to mind would be Luthien and Beren from Tolkien's The Silmarilion if it is a traditional couple. If it is meant as friends I'd be torn between Robert Crais's Elvis Cole and Joe Pike or Robert B. Parker's Spenser and Hawk.

Most important to me is finish the book, then worry about the rest afterwards. So many people get distracted wondering where or how they will publish it, and never finish. Also, do your research. Not every pistol is a Glock or a Luger.

One of the best things about being a writer is seeing your books in print, but the best to me is when someone tells me that they love my stories. Knowing you made a connection with someone, and they escaped their own life for a while is wonderful.

The only way I know is to work through it. Sit down, put on some unobtrusive music that sets the mood and inspiration will come. Occasionally, I go take a walk, but then get right back to business.

Currently I'm working on the fourth book in my zombie apocalypse Dead Tide series. I'm into the last third of what will be entitled 'Dead Tide Rage.' These books are written in an alternating viewpoint from chapter to chapter in a literally minute by minute time frame. Only a week or so has passed over the course of four novels.

Sometimes inspiration comes sailing right out of nowhere, and can be as simple as a few words such as 'Beneath the Mask' or 'Sedation Dentistry. At other times it can be as simple as write me an end-of-the-world short story set in Brazil ('Like A Man').

My most recent book, Barren Earth (a re-release), was a collaboration between Eric S. Brown and myself fairly early in my career. He wanted to do a zombies in space book, and I wanted something a little different. I think we accomplished that.
