Thanks for answering! A March bride, how to catch a prince and a Royal Christmas wedding are not in Dutch... Can I ask why it is your own and not with a publisher?

Rachel Hauck Ah... I misunderstood at first. A Royal Christmas Wedding is with a publisher. The Wedding Dress Christmas is my own. :)

I'm not sure why those titles won't be translated. My guess is not enough sales. :( Thank you for reading though!!

Hi Rachel! I'm a new fan. First, I read The Fifth Avenue Story Society - and it's my new favorite book! I'm reading The Writing Desk now and am loving it. I'm an aspiring novelist - got one in the works. So, I would love to know if the first book you wrote was ever published. Did you write the first one and let it sit for a while? I have a million questions, but that will do for now. Thanks!

Sorry for my delayed answer! Congrats on writing your own book. And I'm so glad you loved Fifth Avenue!

My first book was a closet book. However I used parts of it for Love Starts With Elle.

Everyone's writing journey is different. The best thing is to get connected with the writing community, keep learning and keep writing.

I recommend novel.academy as a great way to learn. There are so many tools there. Also get "The Story Equation" by Susan May Warren.

Hi Rachel. I do enjoy reading your books! Just a friendly question about the book, "The Wedding Shop", where Odelia mentions to Cora that she has been married "since Jesus was a baby". As a Christian writer why would you use Jesus as a comparison? Or maybe you can explain what the meaning is of that line? Greetings Mel.

Rachel Hauck Hi Melissa, thanks for asking. In the American south, there are expressions like "Since Moses was a baby" or "Old as Methuselah."

Saying "since Jesus was a baby" is just a point of reference. Ordelia was saying she'd been married a long time! ;)

Jesus is a real man who walked on the earth. (Yes, He is also God!) Using Him as a point of reference, as I see it, is not a comparison but recognizing His humanity, His birth and life on earth.

I hope that makes sense.

I just learned not all of you books of the serie of the Royal weddings serie wil be translated to Dutch... Also the Christmaswedding is not sure to be translated... Im so sad know. I love complete series. Now i have to go and look if i can find all of the books in English, but sofar all different covers. or not be find... Is there something i can do to chance this?

Not yet, but I have it in my que to listen to. I recently went to Lifeway Christian book store and there were your books! It made my day. I told the ladies there how much I love your writing! At the end of A Royal Christmas Wedding you summarize the future for many characters, but don't address Reggie from book 2. She has really stuck with me and I wonder if there is more to her story?

Rachel Hauck I loved Reggie too! So far there's no more to her story. I'll have to think about it! :)

Love the Wedding Dress and am excited that a movie is being made. Sadly I have lost, misplaced my hard back copy. I purchased it through Crossings Book club when it first came out. I have all the other books in this series plus all you newest books which I love. How can I purchase a replacement hard back at a reasonable price?

We read The Wedding Dress and loved it. Do you plan to add any more books based on some of the characters, stand alone books, perhaps for the lives of some of the other characters from this story? I am not alone in wanting to know more about how certain characters' lives played out. Thanks for the great read, now I have to choose more of your books!

Rachel Hauck Hey Melissa, there are more books! The Wedding Chapel and The Wedding Shop. The dress comes back in the Shop. And now there's The Wedding Dress Christmas.

I just finished The Wedding Dress, and I loved it! The symbolism throughout was deep and thoughtful. You had so many well developed characters in the book. I fell in love with Thomas and Mary Grace (but most especially Thomas). Have you ever thought of writing a book about Thomas and Mary Grace's life? I would certainly love to here more of his sermons.

I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Rachel Hauck Get rid of the comparison monkey. You never win by comparing yourself. You have to hone your story, your way. Two authors can write about the same thing with the same title and have two completely different books! Trust your gut, your God given talent and go for it. You for sure will never be published if you quite. Reject letters are part of the process. Famous authors have papered their living room walls with rejection slips. In the mean time, join a writers group, get feedback, hone your craft. I recommend learnhowtowriteanovel.com. Susie Warren is an amazing teacher. Invest in a paid manuscript review by a skilled professional. Read a lot. Study authors who are successful. Don't not write because 96% of manuscripts are rejected. That's not a stat you worry about. :) Also, go to writer's conferences. Meet the agents and editors you want to work with. That's a HUGE HUGE leap over the slush pile wall. Don't read anything about the industry. Did you read Goodreads' article on YA author Jenni James? You should. It will encourage you. And pray, if you have faith. The Lord opens doors no man can open! go write something brilliant today! xo Rachel

Hi Rachel, What was your inspiration for The Wedding Shop and The Wedding Dress? I loved both stories. I listened to both on audible and the narration was the best. I just loved listening to her tell the stories. I would think about what may have inspired you to write the story or where the idea's came from. Rachel Hauck Jennie, thanks for writing. Sorry I'm so slow in answering! The Wedding Dress was the first idea, way back in 2010! I was with some friends talking about weddings it it just hit me: one dress, a hundred years. The story grew from there.

Because of The Wedding Dresses success, my publisher asked for "more of the same." So I wrote The Wedding Chapel and The Wedding Shop. The Wedding Chapel was literally inspired by driving past a wedding chapel in Tennessee. :) The Wedding Shop followed and I think was a suggestion from a friend. I loved that ultimately the shop allowed me to bring the dress back again! XO, Rachel

Are you planning on writing anymore from the Royal Wedding series? It does not say "trilogy," so that leaves it open ended, you know. (*wink, wink!)

Rachel Hauck There is one more right now, A Royal Christmas Wedding, releasing in October. Avery and Colin's story. We'll see if there is more to follow. :)
