Initially from Marvin the Martian, who needed to blow up the Earth because it obstructed his view of Venus. But it was actually back in mid-1990s when I read Tesla: Man out of Time that I saw a plausible path for making it happen (not having any Uranium-236 to power my explosive space modulator).
