Laura Shapiro Kramer Every day inspires me. Every detail has the potential for a 'riff' like in jazz. Then from there I expand and embroider whatever has seized my attention. Focusing in my yoga practice or having a good swim (every swim and every practice is a 'good' practice) calms me and my mind is clear; I am more comfortable in my body. It is a pleasure to weave my inspiration(s) into being productive.
Laura Shapiro Kramer Do it. Set aside a "small stone" of time - everyday - and put words down. keep notes. Make it a practice.
Laura Shapiro Kramer I refuse it. I don't know what it means. I always have work to do. I have stories and essays and edits and blogging and my mind never stops going. I am bursting with ideas; interested in so much in every realm we have the chance to live in.
I do not have writer's block. I would refuse it anyway.
Laura Shapiro Kramer You can be a writer anywhere! With my Ipad and journal, I have traveled the world and lived overseas without missing a day of writing. Its like 'awareness' - a meaningful and needed attribute that you can carry anywhere without being weighed down!
Laura Shapiro Kramer I am always writing!
I have put my thoughts down in simple blog entries, but also in more lengthy essays (see The Muse on my web site).
I have thoughts on several upcoming projects, including a compendium of essays, and a follow-up to the Uncommon Voyage guidebook.
Laura Shapiro Kramer I was reviewing the memoir I wrote many years ago and wanted to update it. I worked with my editor to turn it into a guidebook rather than just a new version of the memoir. I have always felt compelled to share my experience to help others and have worked to make this guidebook a source of support and empowerment for other parents - not just those whose children have special needs - and I hope in a special way it will help them explore more of life, more of themselves and keep wide open a door of possibilities. Let's write our own stories!
