I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?
Madelynne Ellis When I get weighed down by the industry, I take a step back and write purely for myself rather than for the market. Write because you love the characters, and the story, and switch off the internal editor for a while. Write purely for yourself and to your tastes. In the end, they're the stories that tend to turn out best.

Hi...when will "Replay" be coming out and will it finish Spook and Ali's story?
Madelynne Ellis Hopefully this summer. It's next on the roster after I complete Ash's final book, and yes, it will complete Spook and Ali's story. It'll also delve into Spook's past.

I noticed your are beginning to rerelease the Scandalous Seduction series. Will all of them eventually be rereleased (I'm especially wondering about books 1 and 3)? I am really looking forward to the next two books in that series! :)
Madelynne Ellis Sadly I have no control over the re-release of books 1 and 3. Book 6 should hopefully be out around Christmas time.

What are you currently working on?
Madelynne Ellis I'm currently writing All Fired Up, which is the next Black Halo book focused on Ash and Ginny and a Christmas story about the band.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Madelynne Ellis I take a few hours off and do something else, eg. reading, walking the dog, watching a movie. If that doesn't help, then I force myself to just sit and put words down. It doesn't matter if they're drivel. Pages can always be edited later. Setting deadlines works for me too.
