Lee Pierce I have nothing specific picked out. I go where the wind takes me.
Lee Pierce The mystery of where my youth went. One day I went to bed young and hopeful, the next I woke up with white hair in my beard, an ache in my back, and near constant exhaustion.
Lee Pierce I grew up an only child in the middle of nowhere, so I've made up stories my entire life. As I got older, it wasn't something I could turn off. I started creating long form stories that I wanted to keep going, so I started writing them down to remember what happened so far. I just never stopped.
Lee Pierce I tried drinking to deal with writer's block but just spent the whole time distracted.
I don't generally run into writer's block too often, but when I do I've found the best things to do are go for a walk or take a shower. I keep a voice recorder running because I know once I'm away from my computer the ideas will come.
Lee Pierce There are no rules, no budget, nothing other than what I put on the page. On any given day I can write completely different personalities in completely different environments that exist with completely different laws of science and physics. That's freeing.
Lee Pierce Write for love, do it because it's a passion. The minute you start doing it for money or external reasons is the minute the story becomes stale and loses its way.
Lee Pierce She looked at the yearly cost of her insurance, and though she never used it, it was much higher than she expected. With a gasp, she realized it was half her yearly income.
Lee Pierce The idea for my most recent release, The Book of Daniel: Hellbound and Down, came from the city of Austin, TX. I had been living there for a few months and was getting ready to leave, so I had been in the mood to write something commemorating the beauty of the city and some of my favorite places. I had been reading a decent amount of Lovecraft at the time and ideas just started dropping into place. Before long, I realized I was looking at not just a novel but multiple books.
Lee Pierce I'm currently setting up my first Kindle Vella story! I'm really excited about trying out this format and seeing what I can do with it.
