Vincent Lowry Hi Nicky, it's a bot scam. Sorry--there's little I can do about people trying to act as me in this way. It's one of the problems of having a public presence. I did put in my auto message on Goodreads that I'd never email spam or gift card offers--but this isn't always seen.

I just received an email supposedly from a member named Linnja Lynn, who seems to legitimately belong to this group. It was in regards to a subgroup called "2026 Year of Impact project" and my book, The Word Gobblers - a handbook for parents working with children to read. Two questions: Is there such a group? And are these offers ever legitimate? I can usually spot them, but this one was very sophisticated.

Vincent Lowry Hi Catherine, I don't work at Goodreads, but you can just enter the group name "2026 Year of Impact project" in the search groups function on Godreads and see if you can locate it. I have no idea if this is legit or not. And you mentioned getting an email for a member--was it a member of one of my groups? If so, what was the name of the group? (In general, emails are now most by bots/AI agents. I've been getting a ton of them, and I don't respond to any.)

Hi Vincent. I just finished a Giveaway for 100 ebook and 671 signed up. In a recent post of yours, you mentioned it was possible to know who were the non-winners and to contact them. How do I go about reaching out to this group and thanking them for enlisting?

Vincent Lowry Hi Arthur, I believe Goodreads has now changed the settings and that is no longer possible. I'm surprised that showed up in a recent post of mine. Please let me know where I posted that so I can edit/remove it. Thanks.

Vincent: I am trying to give away 100 Kindle books. I have their form completed. It wants to know the ASIN number. I put that in right from Kindle. It says there is no such number and no such book; well yes there is! Now what do I do? BTW, I sent you an email asking if I could hire you to market my books on Good reads. I never heard from you. Regarding the ASIN number, is the book you are trying to giveaway on the Goodreads platform? In other words, can you find the book on Goodreads?

I just read an article that SEEMS to be saying that, effective on August 22, 2022 (NOW) eBooks can ONLY be purchased online by KINDLE devices because Google now refuses to allow sales of products that are paid for outside the reach of Google. Is that true?

Vincent Lowry Hi Brooke, that is the first time I've heard of that policy. I'd be surprised if that were true.

Vincent Lowry Hi Frank, were you able to join the group? If it's the Goodreads Authors/Readers group, you should be able to click join. If it's a different group and it's private, you need to be let in.
