So sorry for the late reply, Arthur, but I've been very busy planning author talks and signings for this year as well as editing the sequel to my book. As far as genre, most people write the genre they enjoy reading. I'm a big romantic suspense fan. I also like mysteries. Right now, I've been considering that A STONE'S THROW may fall more into the cozy mystery genre than romantic suspense, but my publisher can help me decide. If you're asking because you need to know how to decide on a genre yourself, write what comes naturally to you. Don't try to write something just because you think it might sell.

Hi, Mike,
Thanks for the question. I've been writing since I was very young, even in elementary school. I started publishing articles for pet magazines in my 30's and published my short story, "Stitches in Time" in the Cat Crimes Through Time Anthology when I was 39. I also wrote a full length book then but never tried to sell it. I published my self-published novel, Cloudy Rainbow, at 48 in 2008 (giving away my age here if you can do the math). A Stone's Throw was published this past November by Limitless Publishing and am halfway done with the sequel. There are many writers who became famous in their later years, although many of them were also writing since they were young. It's never too late to start. If you're trying to break into the field, good luck to you. If you're just curious. I appreciate your interest. Let me know if there's anything else I can answer for you.

I'm a librarian, and the main character is a librarian. The idea just came to me, but certain parts of the book were inspired by my work and experiences. I've also been a features editor on my college paper and written for my local paper, so that gave me the idea for the occupation of my main character's love interest.

I was always encouraged by my parents and teachers. I always loved books and reading. It just came naturally to me, and I love it.

A sequel to "A Stone's Throw." I'm very happy with how it's developing. I introduce new characters, but the main ones are still there and furthering their stories.

Be stubborn. Don't give up. Create good character and plot outlines but don't worry about being too strict about following them. Let your words flow. Be active on social media. Network with other authors. Don't expect success overnight or much money to start. Enjoy it or don't do it.

Seeing my words in print and knowing that I can reach people and entertain, inform, and touch them by my writing.

I don't get writer's block often but, when I do, I just immerse myself in reading other authors. I also find that taking real life events, happenings, and past experiences and fictionalizing them is very helpful.
