Devorah Fox How my late husband and I became partners, then friends, then lovers, and finally spouses is a mystery since we were very different people from different backgrounds. It would make a good plot for a book and I'm exploring that now in my current work-in-progress.
Devorah Fox Archie and Debbie from "Detour, A Big Rig Thriller." Because their relationship seems realistic.
Devorah Fox Being a writer requires that I do a lot of research. I learn something new every day.
Devorah Fox At the risk of sounding glib, there is no such thing as an "aspiring" writer. Either you write, which makes you a writer, or you're not. Not everyone expresses himself by writing. Some people act, build bridges, make gourmet sandwiches. If you feel moved to write, stop aspiring and just write.
Devorah Fox I found myself intrigued by the word "redoubt" which is a type of fortification. King Bewilliam has surmounted many of the obstacles that he faced in the first three books of this high fantasy series, but in many ways his recent struggles and trauma have left him defensive. I usually find titles the hardest part of the book to write but in this case I'm starting with the title.
Devorah Fox My work in progress is "The Redoubt," Book 4 of "The Bewildering Adventures of King Bewilliam" high fantasy series. I started it during National Novel Writing Month 2014 and will keep writing until it's done, which I hope will be Summer 2015.
Devorah Fox Most of the time I simply can't afford writer's block as I'm always on some deadline or other. When I'm stymied, I write ... write anything. Just keep that pen moving or those fingers pounding the keyboard. Sooner or later (more usually later than sooner) an idea blossoms and I'm over the hump.
Devorah Fox What doesn't inspire me? Just about anything gets me wondering "what if?" It could be something I see on TV, a story in the news, an image on a cereal box ... before I know it, I'm weaving a tale.
