I'm always inspired to write so I don't have to do anything special to feel that way. That said, writing is not easy. It's never perfect. I have my good writing days and some days where I'm not as motivated to write. I strive to write every day, even if it's just a half a page or a page, just as I like to exercise every day. You must stay very curious about the world in order to stay inspired to write.

I've lived in Tokyo, Japan half-time the last three years. I can still recall a friend telling me in 2012 how much Japan needed to internationalize. I said, "What?" One of the world's leading economies isn't global?! It struck me as odd. Now I get it. Japan's technology and know-how in the world is obvious, its culture pervades, but the mentality of going global is lagging. This is why I call Japan's global efforts as an "awkward embrace."
