The Tamelin Light trilogy has three converging plots. Whenever I run into trouble with one, I switch to another. Each has different feel, so I can work on the one that matches the mood I am in (though I write whether or not I am in "the mood for writing" otherwise nothing whatever gets done).
If I've had enough of working on The Tamelin Light, there is always the much lighter Innocent Bystanders project to keep spinning out.

This career is so portable! And inexpensive. And I can work on it anywhere I have time and my own thoughts.

The sequel to Colder. Also the third installment of the Innocent Bystanders series.

There are a lot of "What if?" moments that led to my writing Colder:
What if people who act like silly cattle - following leaders who lie to them; looking to popular culture for their own identities; and the luckless downtrodden billions ever-migrating from places of war and death - what if they really WERE genetically-altered cattle for an another race of people to feed on?
What if there were extraordinary humans out there - let's call them True
Humans - who escaped the alterations and were battling the group that altered the Cattle?
What if one of the monster houses that eat the cattle rebelled to fight against their own kind?
What if ancient gods were behind the whole fight?
Seemed like I could do quite a lot with that.
