Morgan Q. O'Reilly Sometimes it's something I read. Or something I see. Or a dream. I often have vivid dreams, sometimes so vivid I have to get up and write them down before I lose the essence. Brainstorming with critique partners also helps.
Morgan Q. O'Reilly Working from home. In my pajamas. Setting my own pace. Although I should, at this time I don't chain myself in place with the goal of so many words per day or so many hours writing. Maybe I'd get Brenn's story done faster if I did. But definitely the best part of writing is telling the story my way. In my pajamas. It's not pretty, but it's comfortable!
Morgan Q. O'Reilly Currently working on book 4 of the Shaughnessys (Open Windows). This time it's Brenn's turn and he's being quite elusive in letting me dig into his head. It's frustrating, but his story will be a good one once I get him working with me instead of against me.
Morgan Q. O'Reilly Read! Then sit and write. Then read some more. Don't be afraid to pick up a book you read even a few years ago. Read it again and you'll find something you missed before. Then use what you learned when you write. But to be a writer, you must plant the butt in the chair and write.
Morgan Q. O'Reilly Tough question. There's no one way that works. Sometimes even just sitting down at the computer and trying to do writing sprints isn't enough to break a block, but it's the solution I try first.
