Penelope Swithinbank A long walk tramping across hills; the outward journey I think about what I'm writing or hoping to write; the way back I let my mind wander and allow the subconscious to sort things out - hopefully! It's probably 90% successful!
Penelope Swithinbank The joy of seeing words spill out on to the page (whether hand written or typed). The fun of having people read, like and comment (hopefully positively!) on the book.
Penelope Swithinbank To read and to write as much as possible. I write every day - sometimes it's my journal, sometimes it's a blog post, sometimes it's work on a manuscript. Or even a 'proper' composed letter! Just write something every day.

The working title is "Scent of Water" and I'm hoping for publication in 2020.
Penelope Swithinbank Sometimes it's through places I visit, or things I have read. Sometimes it just 'happens.' And sometimes, like the current project, it's through an external event or situation.
Penelope Swithinbank Walking across France had been on my ‘bucket list’ for nearly thirty years, after I read Miles Moreland's book "THe Man Who Broke Out of The Bank and Walked across France." My husband and I planned to celebrate our retirement by backpacking from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic across south west France. And then, during the last few years of our professional working life, we experienced some sad and difficult things in our marriage; so we did the Walk not just to celebrate retirement, but also to help the healing process, which it certainly did. The book came from the experiences we had, the things we reflected on as we walked, and the journal I wrote each evening
