Steve Peek One morning as I left for work in California I looked out on the Pacific and saw islands where not islands should be. They were really fog banks but the sun and ocean reflections gave them the appearance of islands in a haze. The questions was: What would happen if suddenly new islands appeared in all the oceans? Thus was the inspiration for The Island Builders.
Steve Peek As a child I used to answer questions whether I knew the answer or not. That's the Irish in me, as Grandma Nolan would say over the lip of her Pabst Blue Ribbon can.
I love questions that seemingly have no answer. Thinking about it and making one up is a good first step in my inspirational jaunt.
Steve Peek A story about a serial killer with a fetish, a psychic who literally kills herself a little every time she uses her gift and a San Francisco cop who is obsessed with solving the case.
Steve Peek Tell tales. People love a good story. Always have, always will.
Steve Peek I don't. I am not sure I even have it. Some days I don't write at all. I just don't feel like it. Other days I am compelled to write. I know many writers say writers write every day.
On the other hand, if I am in the middle of a novel it is nothing for me to write six to eight hours with no breaks at all.
