Kaia Bennett Never! lol. Has it taken longer than expected to release me from it's bonds of servitude? Yes. But I finish what I start. I literally couldn't go on to write the next stories in the Shivers and Sins series, let alone any other book I have in the queue, if I gave up on the end of Evie's arc. I think if anything, what has really died is my sense of doubt and inertia, as well as a personal period of upheaval in my own life. It's closer to being done than it was and if it's not finished this year, it absolutely will be in 2020. Thanks for the question and for your patience!
Kaia Bennett Lol! I mean, it's come up once or twice. ;) I don't have any definitive news yet, which is why I don't set a date until I hand the draft over to my editor. It's been a hard draft to get through because so many threads have to be tied up, I switched back to Evie's POV, and she's gone through so many transformations. Plus there's just this escalation of plot points and introductions to other aspects of the world/lore for the series to continue beyond Evie and Jesse. All of that has to come across in a way that doesn't bog down the pacing. So I did a draft, scrapped it, started over. And now there's more traction. I'd love it if I could get it out to you guys this year, but we'll see. And in the meantime I'll try and update more on social media and my blog. I always intend to do that but then just get this feeling that I'll be boring people or annoying them with snippets instead of fully fleshed ideas. I'll look up and a month has gone by, so I'm trying to get better about that. Writer baggage, lol. Anyway, thanks for checking in and for reading the series thus far. The end is coming, I promise. <3
Kaia Bennett Hi Victoria! As of right now, Doing It To Death is only available on Amazon because it's in KU. The good news is the kindle app is free (I use it myself), so as long as you have a laptop or phone you can read Volume 2 with no fuss. Thank you so much for checking out Die By the Drop, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! <3 <3 <3
Kaia Bennett Hi Brandy! You didn't miss anything. There's no date set as of yet. I don't do that until I've sent it to my editor, but I'm hoping to get this book and another done this year. We'll see how it goes, but I'll be sure to keep people updated on social media or my blog. Thanks for reading!
Kaia Bennett I believe in lust at first sight, but I think love takes more active commitment, more trust, more practical affirmations. It's possible to be very attracted to the person who will meet those needs for you, but it's all just potential until you're sure.
Kaia Bennett Hi Tamara! I'm working on it now (and so excited about where it's going) but I haven't set an official date yet. I'd love if the story were out early 2017 but I don't set anything in stone until I kick it over to my editor. I'll be sure to update on social media and my blog when it's about ready to be published. Thanks for reading Volume 1 and I hope you enjoy Volume 2 when it's ready. :)
Kaia Bennett Hi Miri! Yes, the next two volumes at least will be a continuation with these same characters. I like the idea of using Shivers and Sins as a chance to tell different stories with different protagonists in this world, but right now I still have to get through Evie and Jesse's part of the tale. Thanks for the question and I'm glad you're looking forward to more!
Kaia Bennett I use a writing journal and get all my thoughts out by hand. It helps me figure out why I'm blocked, whether it's boredom or a plot point that doesn't work. I also listen to music and take walks.
Kaia Bennett My Christmas themed novella, The Fifth Day, is available for pre-order and will be released October 1st. That's going to be followed by The Loose Ends series, with the first book, #1 Crush, set for a tentative release in December. I'm just working on finishing up the second run through of edits. After that I have several projects in the early stages, including a paranormal erotic romance story (which I think will be my next release) and a few contemporary erotic romances. Can't wait to share them with all of you!
Kaia Bennett The best thing about being a writer is, to me, what's best about being human; you can sit down, totally separate from other people, create characters and a world, and then when you share it find out that you're not alone. People can share this experience with you, the love, pain, anxiety, fear and happiness that you felt as you wrote these characters. All of it can draw people together, whether it's in devouring it or hating it. Art has the power to do that. For me, writing is one of the many forms of artistic/creative proof that nothing exists in a vacuum and we are all linked somehow.
