Chris Hambleton Often I'll get inspired to write simply by wanting to see my books written and published. I'll usually come up with the plot/subject for the book, do a rough outline and synopsis, then create the cover. I'm not one to leave things unfinished, so having the cover ready to go helps me stay motivated. Then it's "simply" a matter of writing as often as possible until the book is finished.
Chris Hambleton Usually when I run into writer's block, I'll jot some ideas down in whatever place I am in the book and then move on to other places in the story where I'm less blocked. Sometimes I'll write the ending first, then the beginning, then parts of the story that lead up to the ending, then go back to the beginning or even the middle. Eventually, the book gets written, but it's often not written sequentially.
Chris Hambleton For my most recent book, "The Author of Life", I came up with the idea by asking myself, "What if God were a writer?" and "If so, what story would He tell?"
Chris Hambleton The best thing about being a writer is being able to create whatever you want in your own words (for fiction) and share your thoughts/thinking on whatever matters to you (non-fiction).
