Jennifer Lane Hi Nancee, thank you! My muse has been a bit quiet lately, but I do have a romance idea brewing. :-)
Jennifer Lane Hi, Kate. Thank you! I checked out the link for Spiked and some of my other books and it appears a bit puzzling how Goodreads sets up those links. Some links go to an Amazon page for all products with that title, and not all of my books get linked to Kindle Unlimited even though many are enrolled in that program. I'll ask Goodreads about it.
Jennifer Lane Hi Brian, unfortunately I haven't. I have heard good things about the novel It's a Date by Jess Epps and Sasha Brummer, and here are some dancer autobiographies on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-B...
Jennifer Lane Hi, Marvin. I'd be honored. Validation is powerful yet most of us don't use the skill often enough, maybe because we are uncomfortable with experiencing negative emotion without rushing to avoid it. If you're up for leaving a link to your article here, I'd like to read it!
Jennifer Lane Inspiration springs from many places: walking and swimming, falling asleep and dreaming, movies, books, music (especially since my WIP's hero is a singer/songwriter), and funny/tragic conversations with my friends. Humans are so darn fascinating that any interactions with them gets my psycho author brain spinning.
Jennifer Lane Allow time for growth. Writing is a skill that improves with practice, and nobody writes a brilliant debut novel or first draft. Working with critique partners and professional editors helps us make fewer repeated errors in our writing, and helps us find our voice.
Jennifer Lane Hi Shanielle, Aced (Blocked #2) launches 12-2-15. Join us for the Facebook party (http://www.facebook.com/events/148108...) and review tour (http://jenniferlanebooks.blogspot.com...).
Jennifer Lane Hi Mya, I finally saw this question!

Training to become a psychologist varies by country, but I'll tell you how I trained in the US.

I earned a BA in psychology, which took me 4 years. I didn't get into competitive MA/PhD counseling psychology programs my first try because they only accepted like 1-2% of students. But I applied again the following year, and got into a university. I was there 4 years, doing coursework, master's thesis and dissertation research, and working as a counselor, teacher, research assistant, and examiner. My 5th year was spent doing a predoctoral internship at a different university--basically working as a counselor there. After 5 years of grad school I got a PhD. Then I had one more year of supervised counseling experience ("postdoc") before I sat for my licensing exam, and became a licensed psychologist. So 4 years of undergrad and 6 years of graduate work.

They say psychologists have the longest training for the lowest salary of any profession, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I love my career.
Jennifer Lane Hey Beverly, thanks for reading Blocked! I'm working on a standalone romantic suspense novel next but I might turn Blocked into a series. If I do, what would you like to see in book two? :-)
Jennifer Lane My work in progress is Spiked (Blocked #3). This is the story between Mateo (Lucia's younger brother) and Jessica (Dane's younger sister). I'm hoping for a release date by the 2016 US presidential election.
Jennifer Lane Hi Chanpreet. I've considered making Blocked a series, with subsequent stories about Alejandro then Mateo/Jessica. But I've started a romantic suspense novel next and think I'll finish that first. What would interest you in a sequel?
Jennifer Lane I only get to choose ONE? Waah. Well, I must say my favorite aspect of writing is the emotional connection to readers. When readers care about my characters to the extent that they laugh, cry, or squee while reading, that absolutely makes my day!
Jennifer Lane Hi, Heather! I've been lucky to be part of my book club for 14 years now, and we've been through many triumphs and tragedies together. Apparently the founders posted a flyer in a bookstore seeking "young married women" for a book club in the late 1990s. Well, we're not young anymore, and some of us have never married, but we enjoy getting together monthly. That's a bummer that you're having trouble getting one off the ground. I wonder if http://meetup.com might be a place to try?
Jennifer Lane Since writing is secondary to my psychologist career, I only find time to write on the weekends. This limited author time means that writer's block rarely occurs for me because I'm typically excited to get back to my characters. However, it's not like the words easily flow. I often need to remind myself just to keep typing and I will edit later. "You can't edit a blank page."
Jennifer Lane My most recent book is Aced the second book in the college sports romance series Blocked. Besides my continued fascination with sports, coming of age, and family dynamics, my unique inspiration is the racial divide in the US. We are more polarized when it comes to politics and race than we have been in some time, and I'm intrigued by how those differences play out in romance. The freedom of speech to express our strong opinions is a strength of America, as is the ability to find common ground despite divergent views.

Also, on a less serious note, I have always been drawn to tall, dark men, and hero Alejandro Ramirez definitely fits the bill. ;-)
