I er, doubt this will reach you, but I have recently read The Hourglass Door Trilogy and it was the first book to make me feel emotional and inspire me to create my own adventures. I just wanted to tell you that you have done an amazing job with all of your books and now i pose a question. Do you have any writing tips for a fellow author? and what inspires you to do your best work?
Lisa Mangum I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed The Hourglass Door series. Writing tips for a fellow author? (1) Read lots--both in and out of the genre you like to write in. Seeing how other authors approach storytelling can teach you a lot about how to tell your own stories. (2) Write lots--both long and short. I've recently started writing short fiction and novellas, and I've really enjoyed the challenge of telling a story in a short amount of space. I think it's also helped me hone my writing as a result. (3) Trust your voice. Here is a secret: The story you are writing? Only YOU can write it. Your voice is valuable; your story is valuable. Trust that you can tell it with joy and passion--and then get to work.

Hi Lisa! I love your Hourglass Door series, and I have to tell you that your line about the "backside of water" inspired me to include pop culture and geek sorts of references in my own book. You explained it just enough so it wasn't too "out there" but for those of us who GOT IT? It was a connectable, likable, memorable moment and it was truly inspiring to me as I wrote. Thank you for that!! :-)
