It's a mystery how a kid who could barely read at seven, and squeaked through writing comp classes managed to have the career he wanted, wrote several dozen books, and moved his family to Hawaii to enjoy the perfect setting for new books?
Seriously – if you want to be a writer, my advice is to dump your ego, take writing jobs for any amount you can get, read incessantly, and love it whether you sell books or not. I got lucky and you can too!

Like all good authors, I professionally analyze why I became stuck and then pout, whine, and stomp around my desk. The best way I have found to get over the block is to stop thinking about it. Then, after enjoying my family and friends, having a meal, reading a book or watching TV, I'll usually find the answers I need.
