Just let it go. Often I will stop writing for weeks on end, but continue to be an avid reader of other authors. In time they will inspire me to get back into it ; or alternatively I will wake up in the early hours of the morning with a sudden brainwave and go straight to work. If an idea comes to mind, go and put it down, regardless of the hour -

I'm working on a book loosely entitled 'The Khmer Legacy' which follows a Khmer rouge accountant escaping Cambodia with plenty of money, but having to leave his son behind in a Thai monastery.
I'm also looking at a book that goes back to my young days, when I was involved in horse training. The many colourful characters and scams that abounded in those days I feel should be recorded for posterity, apart from making great reading for those who like tales of the turf.

In my case its often perspiration rather than inspiration ; Although I didn't realise it at the time, I certainly have lived an 'entertaining' life to say the least. Never one to shirk a challenge and always having been prepared to take a gamble means I can generally rely on memories rather than research when it comes to writing. In many cases that hard earned experience gets passed on in my books - to hopefully make the way easier for those that follow ....
