Sheila Deeth Her road to work took her through Forest Park, a beautiful swathe of tree-covered hillside outside Portland. This day her road took her into the park but not out, as the beautiful trees swayed into her path and trapped her, while squirrels, skunks and raccoons clawed the windows from her car.
Sheila Deeth Is it really summer? There are lots of books I'm (over)due to review but reading just for me might include "All the Light we Cannot See," "A Man Called Ove," "Cloud Atlas," "Inside of a Dog," "The Magicians" trilogy, and maybe (at last) the "Left Behind" series (maybe...). How long is summer?
Sheila Deeth Why didn't I stand up for myself? Why didn't I say no? (In fact, it kind of is the plot for Infinite Sum)
Sheila Deeth Probably Ross about Demelza Poldark, because my Granddad collected the books and I could watch the series with him on TV (when I was a kid). When they showed the preview for the new series I recognized it straight away- I guess that means the casting is pretty faithful to the books, but it's got to say something about the books too. So now I have to reread them.
Sheila Deeth I suspect the answer to that one is: with more effort and enthusiasm than success. I try to support other authors with book reviews, interviews, guest posts, tweets etc; I use Facebook pages and Mailchimp to advertise what's going on with my series, and Twitter to keep their names "out there," wherever "there" might be. I occasionally pluck up courage to talk to book-buyers in book stores (with remarkable lack of sales or success). Then I celebrate every new reader while continuing to write and dream.
Sheila Deeth What a good question. I'm not sure. I have these voices in my head.... does that sound totally crazy? I don't think I'm crazy, but sometimes the voices demand to be heard so I have to write their stories. Sometimes the voices are cats and dogs talking to me... Okay, perhaps I am a little bit crazy, but don't tell anyone.
Sheila Deeth I love the Bible, science and history. I love asking questions and looking for answers. And I love telling stories to children. Jerusalem Journey comes out of all those, with just a gentle push from my publisher who said it was time I worked on New Testament stories.
Sheila Deeth Two years ago (2015)! I'm writing the ninth book of the Five-Minute Bible Story Series. It's called Jerusalem Journey, and deals with the story of Easter. I plan to start working on stories from Acts next, though I'll probably take time off to tidy up Divide by Zero's second sequel, maybe write a fourth in the series (it's buzzing around in my head), and edit Tails of Mystery.

Today (2017)? I'm waiting for the twelfth in the Five-Minute Bible Story Series to be release (Paul's Purpose). The third Mathemafiction novel (Subtraction) is due for release in August and I'm busily working on the fourth (Imaginary Numbers). And I'm waiting for A Nose For Adventure, the sequel to Tails of Mystery, to be released, hopefully this year.
Sheila Deeth The best advice I received was from author Jane Kirkpatrick. She told me, repeatedly, not to give up. Other than that, my advice would be keep reading, keep writing, and keep dreaming.
Sheila Deeth I can surround myself with imaginary friends, and tell their stories?
Sheila Deeth I used to take the dog for a walk, then the characters in my head could get themselves organized and talk to me. Now I walk around talking to myself and hope nobody thinks I'm crazy. There again... Anyway, fresh air and exercise always seems to get the ideas flowing.
