I've only written one complete novel so I don't have years of experience with writer's block - however, I definitely encountered it a couple of times while writing Broken. The best thing I did was accept that the words weren't going to come at that moment, shut down my laptop, and went and did something else. The book will still be there when I am ready, and sitting and trying to force the words to come just ended up frustrating me.

I'm toying with the beginnings of a new novel now. It will be a little different from Broken - not quite as heavy, but still dealing with lost love and moving forward.

When I was a new mother I saw a newscast about a woman who had recently lost her husband, toddler and newborn baby to a drunk driver. I remember holding my daughter and thinking how strong that woman had to be to lose her family and go on. It stuck with me for decades and when I finally committed to writing and FINISHING a novel, that was the story that stuck in my head. How do you go on and LIVE again when you have lost everything.
