I was inspired by a children's book that my school librarian showed my Creative Writing class in April 2016. It was written in letters between fairy tale characters, and I loved the idea. I wanted to make it more relevant to modern teenagers, and came up with the idea to incorporate social media and text messages into the story as well as letters.
