Thanks, Aly. I'm doing all right, but with all that's going on--Covid, family stuff, etc--I've had trouble concentrating on my writing. I'm sorry to be so very slow, but I picked up my current manuscript today and hope to get serious about it. Thanks for asking. :)

Sarah, I am so sorry I missed your question and didn't respond sooner! Thank you so much for the kind words about my books. I'm thrilled you enjoy them, and re-reads are a huge compliment to an author. :)
I generally don't read many other Highlander books because I don't want to get muddled by another author's plot or take on history, but here are a few authors you may like: Eliza Knight, Julie Johnstone, Glynnis Campbell & Tanya Anne Cosby.
Thanks again!

Thanks so much, Aly!! I'm thrilled to hear you love my books. :) I don't have a release date for my next book. Sadly, I'm a slow writer! I have 2 more books planned in The Douglas Legacy series and am working on Book 4 (Lizzie's book) now. After I finish this series, I want to go back to the MacDonalds of Skye (from The Return of the Highlanders series). I know I need to write stories for Lachlan and Niall from that series, and I've been toying with the idea of books for the next generation...
Thanks!

Hi Lidy. I'm so sorry I missed seeing your message until now. I'm thrilled to hear you are loving my Douglas Legacy series. I have 2 more books planned in the series, and Lizzie's story is next. I don't have a release date, however, and it's going to take me a long while to finish. Have you read my other two series? Since you like my Douglas Legacy books, I think you'd enjoy them to. I have the books listed in series order on my website, http://www.margaretmallory.com/. Again, I apologize for not responding sooner.
Thanks!

There have always been strong women who found ways to persevere and shine despite the constraints and expectations of their times. As a writer, the obstacles put on women in the time period I write in provide opportunities for my characters to show their strength, courage and creativity to protect those they love, better their world, and win happiness for themselves. I think the women characters can be all the more admirable for what they have to overcome. :)

When I asked the question, I was thinking about how you must write men who conform to those times but are also able to win the likes of us strong, independent 20th century ladies to their sides! Thank you for sharing!

An author's computer crashes just as she types, "The End," to her latest novel. She didn't back up her files.

Soon! I just finished listening to the entire recorded book to proof it, and I'm happy to say that Derek Perkins did a great job, as usual. :) I don't know how long the process takes after my approval. I was told it could take up to 2-3 weeks, but I think it only took a few days with my last two audible books.

Hi Crystal. The Return of the Highlanders is not connected to any previous series. THE GUARDIAN, book 1 in the series, introduces series' characters for the first time. I hope you enjoy the books!
Thanks,
Margaret

Hi Sam,
I'm glad you enjoyed my Highlanders. Ian is one of my favorites, too. :) A lot of readers have asked me to write stories for Niall & Lachlan. I plan to make Niall the hero of book 4 of my current series, THE DOUGLAS LEGACY. I haven't figured out when I'll work in a story for Lachlan yet, but he definitely deserves a Happily Ever After. I may write a novella for him.
Thanks for asking!

Thank you, Paula! I'm so glad to hear that you loved CAPTURED BY A LAIRD. The Stolen Brides series, however, is by my friend Eliza Knight. :) I don't expect to have my 2nd book in THE DOUGLAS LEGACY available until summer--hopefully June in print & ebook & a few weeks later in audible. While you wait, you might try my previous series, THE RETURN OF THE HIGHLANDERS & ALL THE KING'S MEN, if you haven't read them yet. Since you enjoyed CAPTURED, I think you'd like them too. :)
Thanks for your message!

Currently I'm working on CLAIMED BY A LAIRD, book 2 in my new series, THE DOUGLAS LEGACY. My hero this time is a MacKenzie. The Douglas heroine is Sybil, who appeared as a secondary character in book 1, CAPTURED BY A LAIRD.

Interesting that you should ask because I just went back in time to write about one of (old) Tearlag's relatives in THE GIFT: A Highland Novella. I don't want to say more and spoil it. :) I don't have plans at the moment to write a book with the younger Tearlag, but the original Tearlag was such fun to write that I certainly may include her in a book in the future. Right now I'm busy writing CLAIMED BY A HIGHLANDER, book 2 in my new series, THE DOUGLAS LEGACY. Thanks for asking!

Hi Melody! A lot of readers have asked me to write a story for Lachlan. :) He needs and deserves a Happily Ever After, and I do plan to write him a story eventually. I'm not sure when, however. I just published THE GIFT, a novella that takes place about 70 years before my THE RETURN OF THE HIGHLANDERS series & is about a couple who are related to some of the characters in that series.
My next project is CLAIMED BY A HIGHLANDER, book 2 in my new DOUGLAS LEGACY series. Another secondary character from RETURN OF THE HIGHLANDERS that readers have been asking me to write a story for is Niall, Ian's younger brother. I plan to make him the hero of book 4 in this new series. I haven't quite figured out when or how to work in a story for Lachlan, but I will! I miss him. :)
Thanks so much for asking about Lachlan.

I first came across Archibald Douglas when I was doing research for THE GUARDIAN (THE RETURN OF THE HIGHLANDERS). I was intrigued by this handsome, young chieftain’s brazen power play in starting an affair with Scotland’s dowager queen, Margaret Tudor, so soon after the death of her husband, James IV. The affair led to lucrative appointments for his Douglas kin, and his eventual marriage to the queen put the Douglas chieftain in a position to vie for control of the young heir to the throne—and the country. For years, Archibald’s power rose and fell dramatically. He and his closest male relatives were forced to flee the country more than once to save their necks.
This new series, THE DOUGLAS LEGACY, was born when I began to wonder what happened to the women of the Douglas family who were left behind when the men escaped. While information on Archie’s sisters is sparse, I found enough to suggest they were in serious danger at times.
Being a romance writer, I naturally wanted to give the Douglas lasses happy endings with men who would stand by them in tough times.
CAPTURED BY A LAIRD (book 1, Sept 15 release) is a fictional story inspired by the real marriage between Archibald’s sister Alison and David Hume of Wedderburn.
