If the question refers to ideas, then I'd say they're just things that grab me, intrigue me or excite me. They come from anywhere. They're like an itch that demands a scratch. They choose themselves. The harder bit follows, working out how that one idea (or ideas) work within a structure, a coherent plot.

Just keep writing. Show up and write. Even if I don't use the material I've written currently, the act of showing up and tap, tap, tapping moves me forward. Just keep fronting up.
Having said that, there are times when life just gets in the way, serious stuff that keeps me from my writing time, but I think that's different from writer's block.

Doing something I love. It's my work and it requires discipline and dedication, but I can't imagine not doing it. I feel weird when I don't get to it regularly.

Another crime novel, a standalone with a new protagonist. It's something I've been re-writing for a while now. I have also begun a sequel to The Beautiful Dead as Cal has more to do.
