Bruce Thomason That's an easy one. I would go to Hogwarts where I would be the professor teaching defense against the dark arts. I realize that's a risky choice since every character taking the position only lasts one school year, but, hey, life is all about taking risks!
Bruce Thomason Fortunately, it hasn't happened often, but, when it does, I put the story aside and do something else. I'm a cyclist, so I spend more time riding. Quite often, an idea will pop into my head when I'm on my bike. When that happens, I stop, grab my phone, and dictate a note so I won't forget it by the time I get back to the keyboard.
Bruce Thomason The plots for the three Detective Clay Randall novels have all been inspired by my experiences during a 45-year career in law enforcement. I commented many times about some crazy incident with, "You can't make this stuff up!"
Bruce Thomason In 2007, my wife and I wanted to come up with something different to give our grandchildren for Christmas besides another video game. The idea of writing a Christmas story starring the three kids just popped into my head, and Santa's Super Rescue: How Beezle T. Claus Tried To Steal Christmas was the result. After that, I couldn't stop.
Bruce Thomason Book four in the Detective Clay Randall Thriller Series.
Bruce Thomason Don't sit in front of your computer trying to come up with the entire plot. Start writing. Something. Anything. Even when I don't know where I'm going, the process of putting words down starts giving me ideas, and the creative juices begin to flow.
Bruce Thomason I have the opportunity to create characters and a world outside my own. Of course, after I've created the characters, they take over, relegating me to the sidelines where my job is to document their words, thoughts, and actions. Still pretty cool!
