Matthew Sylvester That's a very tricky one! Most likely it would be Forgotten Realms, and I'd probably choose to be a cleric, as I've always liked the idea of being able to cure using magic/prayers, as well as gods that directly answer calls for help :)
Matthew Sylvester Rick Castle and Kate Beckett.
Matthew Sylvester What's that? You don't get plumber's block. You don't get Policeman's block. Why on earth should you get writer's block. Just write. Simple. Even if you don't know what you're writing about when you start, you can at least have the character walking down a street, waking up in a tent high up in the mountains, parachuting from the back of a military aircraft, gouging the eyes out of his enemy. It's simple. Sit down. Shut up. Write.
Matthew Sylvester Sharing my worlds with others and knowing that they're enjoying them as much as I do.
Matthew Sylvester Don't talk about it, just write it. Blast it out, don't edit it, just get the whole thing down onto 'paper'. Then start editing. Editing for me usually means adding more words rather than removing them. Other authors find themselves removing words.

Also, once you've got the first draft done, you've written a book. Not many people can say that, but many people will say that they 'want to write a book'. They never will.
Matthew Sylvester A steam fantasy grimdark book for children. It features a Gnome Bounty, a one legged Gnome Engineer, a wingless fairy and a psychotic cabin boy. Great fun all around.
Matthew Sylvester Positive feedback. My kids like my writing, and I'm writing a novel for each of them and the look of enjoyment on their faces is fabulous. Getting good reviews also helps. If I was constantly getting bashed, I might not stop writing, but I might stop making it so publicly available.
Matthew Sylvester I used to walk in to and from work. Using my iPod I thumbed out a series of short, flash fiction stories set in an alternate history of World War 1. The idea just came to me whilst I started writing the story and developed from there.
