Maxine Billings To sum it up in one word: LIFE. To elaborate, there is so much that we have to endure in life on a daily basis. Therefore, I am always inspired to write stories about some facet of life that tests us as imperfect humans. But since I can't possibly write all of the stories at once, I try to select one where the main topic is one that is having a huge impact on people.

As far as actually sitting down to write the story, I have to partially contribute that to my characters. That may sound crazy to some, but they really do help guide me in writing their story.

Also, sometimes, listening to things in the news and to some of my favorite music (jazz and R & B) that pertain to whatever obstacle my characters are facing helps the writing juices to flow.
Maxine Billings Like all of my stories, I get my ideas from life, in general. And since I love sequels, I thought it would be nice to write about the Montgomery family years later and see what CHANGES are going on in their lives.
Maxine Billings CHANGES, my sequel to my first published novel A MEASURE OF FAITH.
Maxine Billings If you really love writing, never give up. REMEMBER: FAILURE IS AN OPTION because not everyone does everything perfect from the get-go.
Maxine Billings Getting to create characters in my mind and having them perform on the theater stage of their audiences' (the readers') minds' eyes.
Maxine Billings By not trying to force myself to write when the ideas aren't flowing. By giving myself a break for however long it takes (which is usually not too long) until the writing juices start flowing again. Sometimes, listening to music that I really enjoy (jazz, R & B, and the like) helps.
