Anna Jarzab Hi Trinity - My publisher decided they did not want to publish book 3, but I do still have hopes of writing it someday and putting it up online for free for fans to enjoy. Follow me on Twitter to get any updates I might have on that in the future (@ajarzab). Thank you for reading, and for getting in touch!
Anna Jarzab Hi Nancy - Yay for middle school teachers! Unfortunately my publisher decided they did not want to publish book 3, so right now I'm in sort of a holding pattern while I try to make time in my life for it. I have hopes of writing it someday and putting it up online for free, on Wattpad or something similar, so fans can enjoy. But thank you so much for reading and loving this series, and for reaching out to me! If I ever have updates on the book 3 front, I will post about it on Twitter, so make sure to follow me there (@ajarzab). Thank you again!
Anna Jarzab Hi Elise - Sadly, my publisher decided they did not want to publish the third book. I still have hopes of writing it someday and posting it online for free, on Wattpad or something like that, I just don't have the time right now since I work full-time and have another book with another publisher coming out soon. Follow me on Twitter to get any updates I might have on the book 3 front. I haven't forgotten about this series, and I appreciate you taking the time to write me!
Anna Jarzab Hi Johans - Sadly, my publisher decided they did not want to publish the third book. If I'd known, I would've tried to wrap everything up as much as I could with book 2, but I didn't know until that book was already finished and couldn't be changed. I still have hopes of writing it someday and putting it up online somewhere for free, on Wattpad or something like that. The best way to get updates when I have them is to follow me on Twitter (@ajarzab). Thank you for your message!
Anna Jarzab Hi Jolie! Thank you for reading...I really appreciate that you want to read Many-Worlds book 3! Unfortunately, my publisher decided that they do not want to publish the third book. If I'd known that was going to happen, I would never have left you and all my other readers on such an intense cliffhanger. I still have hopes of writing book 3 someday and giving it away on Wattpad or something like that, I just haven't had time recently (day job, new book with new publisher, etc.). Every message I get like this makes me want to find the time somehow so much more. Keep following me on social (@ajarzab on Twitter, that's where I spend the most time) to get updates when I have them. Thank you again for messaging!
Anna Jarzab A movie would be fun! Rights haven't sold, though, so I doubt it'll happen. I hear great things about the audio! (I can't bring myself to listen to my own books being read, but I get a lot of good feedback.) I don't think Tether is going to be on audio, though. At least, I haven't heard anything about it.
Anna Jarzab A YA contemporary about first love, failure, and ambition. I am in love with it.
Anna Jarzab Thank you for saying that! It's hard to talk about challenges, mostly because they're ongoing, but I guess I'll say here that publishing is a business and so much of it is out of your control. Every writer (including myself) is guilty of sometimes losing sight of why we're doing this in the first place and focusing too much on "milestones" (winning awards, bestseller lists, sales at any level, big media, good reviews, etc.). When I hit a rough patch a year and half ago, I did the only thing I know how to do--I wrote a book about it. A book I'm still working on, that teaches me something new about how I felt then (and now) every day. One of the most important things that book taught (and continues to teach) me is that writing for its own sake should be the most important thing; the pleasure of creating, of building a world and creating characters, should be front and center in your mind at all times. Sometimes it takes the falling away of everything else to make everything else fall away, but it's an important lesson even for authors who are at a great point in their careers, I think. Thanks for asking!
Anna Jarzab To write: contemporary YA. To read: contemporary YA or adult. I don't know why, I just prefer books set in our world, with real-world stakes. That doesn't mean I don't like a good fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian, because I do! But I'm pickier, and I tend not to write that as much (although, I do write that sometimes). And I have this thing where if a book doesn't have a good romance I tend not to like it as much as I would otherwise.
Anna Jarzab Like a lot of authors, I would imagine, I get inspired to write by the desire to tell myself stories. Mostly, I'm just trying to keep myself entertained on boring subway rides and flights and while walking around NYC, where I live. I work most of the details of my novels out in my head, down to bits of dialogue, and then when I finally sit down at my desk I dump it all out onto the page and sort it out as I go.
Anna Jarzab I can't believe I'm saying this (I can't believe it's true) but I got the idea for my most recent work in progress in a flash at 4 AM. I was having some insomnia issues, so I was awake, but I'm pretty floored that not only did the idea remain intact through an entire year of writing and revising, but the paragraph I jotted down at 4 AM last fall is also pretty much intact in the current draft. Who knows what'll happen by the time it hits shelves!
Anna Jarzab Since it's in the book description, I don't think this constitutes a spoiler, so: yes. But as you may recall, Thomas is not in the very best situation at the end of Tandem--expect it to get worse before it gets better. :)
Anna Jarzab Publishing is a very real possibility for anyone who's willing to put in the time and the work, not only to find an agent but also to make their manuscript the absolute best they can make it, the best it can be. When you feel like you have a finished manuscript that's the best you can make it, look into getting a literary agent. Google "how to get a literary agent"--there are a lot of resources online. Good luck!
Anna Jarzab This is not advice that will help people get published, but I think it's good advice for people who want to write good stuff: do things. Go climb a mountain or learn to scuba dive or learn Photoshop or whatever you're interested in. More often than not, it's the flourishes and ideas that passions other than writing bring to people's work that gives them dimension and makes them unique.
Anna Jarzab Never lacking for entertainment. When you're a writer, you've got like six or more different stories living in your head at the same time, so you're almost never bored.
Anna Jarzab Honestly, I let it run its course. I've never had writer's block so severe that a couple days (even a couple weeks or months) off from writing didn't cure or at least temporarily alleviate it. I don't push myself to write when I don't want to unless I absolutely must for deadline reasons, and as a result I rarely get writer's block. I think it's a chicken/egg thing: not forcing myself to write when it's not working makes me less stressed about writing, which in turn makes writing come easier--and brings on the sort of ideas that can break a writer's block for me. There are a lot of ways to deal with writer's block, but that's mine.
Anna Jarzab I do have a few ARCs of Tether, so I will do some Goodreads giveaways with them when we get closer to publication! You should enter! :)
