Elizabeth Coldwell Thanks for your question, Alex.

When Xcite's parent company was bought out by another publishing house, the imprint stopped publishing new books and so is no longer looking for submissions. For groups that offer the opportunity to submit material for critiques etc, check the Hobbies and Crafts section of Goodreads Groups as I'm sure you will find something to suit you there.
Elizabeth Coldwell Probably Benedick and Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing (it's a play rather than a book, so I hope that's not cheating...). They are the template for the couple who are perfect for each other if only they could see it, and who hide their real feelings for each other behind constant bickering and snappy comebacks.
Elizabeth Coldwell Thanks for the question, Carolyn. A Demonstration of Affection is the only steampunk story I've written, but that's not to say that I wouldn't return to these characters if a suitable idea presented itself, as I had great fun creating their world.
Elizabeth Coldwell I've been very lucky in that I've never had a time when I haven't known what I'm going to write next. But on those days when I'm simply not in the mood to write (and they hit us all), I'll go and do chores, visit the shops and have some time to myself, rather than forcing the words on to the page. If you're not enjoying what you're doing, it will show on the page.
Elizabeth Coldwell Creating characters and living in their worlds - I've been everything from a rock star to a billionaire's wife. It's great fun!
Elizabeth Coldwell If you want to write in a particular genre, read plenty of books in that genre so you get used to its conventions and what makes the plots work. Make time to write when you can, and keep a notebook handy so you can scribble down ideas as they come to you. And once you start submitting your work, don't be discouraged if you're not immediately successful - all writers receive rejections from time to time, and learning from rejection can help to improve your work.
Elizabeth Coldwell Book Four in the Lionhearts series (The Pride of Amsterdam is Book One). In this book, the action moves between Rome and a film studio in Eastern Europe, and there's plenty of desire and danger along the way.
Elizabeth Coldwell So many things inspire me - conversations, dreams, music videos and the lightbulb moment when an idea just seems to pop into my head from nowhere.
Elizabeth Coldwell The idea for The Pride of Amsterdam came from a sign commemorating an old brewery in the heart of Amsterdam - an image that was part-man, part-lion. Out of that grew a story of the love between a lion shifter and his human mate.
