Step away from the story for a bit. Could be a few hours, a few days or a few weeks. I give my brain a rest and when I'm ready and go back to it, I usually have fresh ideas that were even better than I started with.

Having someone tell me that one of my stories kept them up all night because they just had to finish it! What a thrill.

Continue to always perfect your craft. The only way to do that is to keep writing. I've recently learned a valuable lesson about writing trilogies that will forever change the way I approach them in the future. It's made me realize how important an outline can be to a writer. :)

I've written stories from the time I had a decent grasp of the English language. I started with a series of stories about students that went to West End High School which were published in my high school literary magazine. I seriously took up novel writing after being challenged by a former employee. Chuck, here's to you! The rest, as they say, is history.

The idea for my most recent series came from a conversation I was having with my son and husband in a local Irish pub. My son was speaking about his friends and their shenanigans and I thought, what a great name for a book. One thing led to another and I wound up with a trilogy about three estranged sisters overcome a great deal of adversity to find each other and love.
