Hi, Fred. I loved Days of Hope. If you had been alive in 1845, do you think you would have joined a wagon train headed for California? Does it depend on your age at the time? Those are the questions I'm asking myself after reading your book.

I enjoy reading books that take place in this era. Have you written any other era(s?)
Fred Dickey I wrote about the Cold War in 2 spy-type novels. I also wrote some magazine articles about the early 20th Century (bootleggers) as well as about people from today. Those stories are in another anthology book called "Stories With Faces" on Amazon. Another recent book is a crime novel about San Diego, "Death on a Dark Street." What are you currently working on?
Fred Dickey Every Step Was Hell, a new novel about the Oregon Trail in 1844. Due out in Sept or Oct 2020.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Fred Dickey I love American history and I admired people who do mad things for a good purpose. I studied non-fiction histories, maps, tiny details about dress, wagons, oxen, etc.
