What are you currently working on?
Cilla McCain I have two nonfiction projects underway.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Cilla McCain I listen to music while I write because it helps loosen me up and it's a great way to set the mood you need for a scene. Recently, I listened to Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" for a two days while I finished a particularly dark chapter.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Cilla McCain Be open to constructive criticism but stay true to your own voice. Also, never underestimate the need for a great copy editor.

How do you get inspired to write?
Cilla McCain Different things inspire me and I never know when inspiration will arrive. Abandoned houses, elderly people talking about the good (and bad) old days, the way pecan groves are planted in neat rows with the sunshine and shadows in between. All sorts of things and people trigger impulses to write.
