As cliche as it sounds, just do it. Write! And write consistently. Don't worry about making it perfect; that's what editing is for. Just get it out. You'll never get better until you do. Also, reading is one of the best writing teachers you can have.

Inspiration can come from anywhere...my life, other people's lives, watching movies, listening to music, watching the news...anything. Or reading other people's books gets me going, too.

The idea for my most recent book came from my night job at a recreation center, and seeing how some parents interacted with their children. The lack of discipline I saw sparked the idea.
