Hey! I love Hobbs but my heart is BROKEN bc I was 100% team Maggie/Liz. So I've got a question, if u don't mind: Why did Liz fall in luv w/ Lucy? I know she's a gorgeous opera singer, but I thought she loved Maggie? Why wasn't Maggie good enough? What was she lacking that made Liz fall 4 Lucy? Or was Lucy bound 2 steal Liz even if Maggie had stopped pouting & tried 2 rekindle her marriage?
Elena Graf Hi Elle, I'm sorry I missed your question. We all go into relationships hoping for a happy ending, but sometimes it doesn't work out. It wasn't that Maggie wasn't good enough. Her needs changed after she retired. Liz and Maggie's goals diverged. Maggie wanted Liz to retire and travel with her. Liz wanted to keep practicing medicine. Maggie wasn't interested in the things Liz liked to do like boating and fishing. It wasn't actually Lucy's beauty or her phenomenal voice that made Liz fall in love with her, but her personal magnetism. Lucy sees through Liz. Having someone understand you and see the real you is a powerful aphrodisiac. Liz probably would have stayed in the marriage because she's loyal, but in the end, it was Maggie who ended the relationship. Lucy is the reluctant party. She didn't "steal" Liz. It's complicated, but so is real life. I'm trying to work through some of these questions in the book I'm currently writing called, "Crossing the Line." No spoilers.

Hi Elena, A friend suggested the Passing Rites series to me, primarily because she wanted to talk about them (and also because she thought I would love them). I absolutely did. Your characters are so flawed and incredibly human. I can't wait for the prequel, so in the meantime I'm reading High October. Do you have a release date for the Passing Rites prequel? Thank you for sharing your gift!
Elena Graf Hi Marissa, volume one of the Passing Rites series, tentatively called The Imperative of Desire, is complete in draft. I interrupted editing it to write a novel in the Hobbs series about the pandemic. I am about half-way through that project. I don't have a definite date for the prequel but it will be this year, hopefully within the next few months. I'm glad you are enjoying the books. High October is written in a very different style, but I hope you find it enjoyable as well.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Elena Graf Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of Earth captured my imagination as a child, and I've always wanted to go there. I'd also like visit the seven kingdoms of Game of Thrones.

Elena Graf I'm reading all the books that won Golden Crown Literary Society awards this year.

Re Occasions of Sin, are there any substantial changes between the 2012 1st edition and the 2015 2nd edition?
Elena Graf No. Just typos and minor grammatical errors corrected.

If Occasions of Sin is Book 2, where is book 1?
Elena Graf Book 1 is actually a "prequel" and is still being written.

What are you currently working on?
Elena Graf I'm finishing up a draft of the fourth book in the Passing Rites Series, Acts of Contrition. It takes place in 1945 after the fall of Berlin.

When are you going to publish another book?
Elena Graf The second (actually third because there is a prequel) book in the Passing Rites Series, Lies of Omission will be published in September 2018.
